| 520 | _aThere was once a merchant who always loaded salt onto his donkey’s back to take and sell in the city. One day, while crossing a stream, the donkey slipped and fell into the water, causing most of the salt to dissolve. When it got up, it was surprised to find its load much lighter. After that, the donkey often pretended to fall whenever it crossed the stream. But the merchant discovered its trick and decided to fill the sacks with cotton instead. When the donkey slipped into the water again as before, the cotton absorbed the water and became very heavy. From that day on, the donkey never dared to play that trick again. | ||
