Because the prince was a stubborn and unreasonable child, the royal guards took him and set him adrift on the water. The prince floated away while holding onto a piece of wood, together with a snake, a parrot, and a rat. Later, the four of them met the hermit Utech Tapas. The hermit gave food to the three animals first before the prince, which made the prince very angry and caused him to hold a grudge against the hermit.
A few days later, the four of them parted from the hermit and promised that they would repay his kindness one day. The hermit then went to visit the prince in the city. Because of his grudge, the prince ordered the guards to seize the hermit and execute him. After learning the truth from the hermit, the guards instead captured the prince and put him to death, and they appointed the hermit to take the throne and rule the kingdom .
