Once, a tiger lay dead after being bitten by a snake. When the hermit saw it, he revived the tiger. However, the tiger turned ungrateful and wanted to eat Maha Boun Sii, claiming that it had merely been asleep and that the wise man had disturbed its rest.
Unwilling to accept this, the two went to seek judgment from the wolf , the monkey, the vulture, and the forest divinity . All of them ruled in favor of the tiger, allowing it to eat Maha Boun Sii. Still dissatisfied, they continued their dispute until they met the rabbit.
The rabbit brought them back to the scene of the incident and proposed a reenactment. He told the tiger to lie in the snake’s hole as before. When the tiger did so, the snake slithered out and bit the tiger, killing it instantly.
