Sovann Sam was a virtuous and morally upright young boy. His parents (King Sothor and Lady Pharamey) had become blind as a result of renouncing worldly life to live in the forest and follow the path of Dhamma. Sovann Sam cared for them with deep devotion, fetching water, finding food, and fulfilling all their needs with great diligence.

One day, a king named Piliy went hunting and unknowingly shot Sovann Sam with an arrow, not realizing he was a human. Upon discovering Sovann Sam’s noble actions and filial devotion, the king was filled with deep sorrow and regret. He went to ask forgiveness from Sovann Sam’s parents, believing the boy had died. The king sincerely repented and humbly sought spiritual redemption.

Later, a celestial being restored Sovann Sam to life, and his parents miraculously regained their sight. King Piliy came to understand the value of virtue and honesty and committed himself to living a righteous life thereafter.
