The four older sons were all handsome and perfect in appearance, but the youngest was born with both legs disabled. The rich man and his wife ordered a servant to abandon the baby by setting him adrift on the water. A doctor found the disabled infant and raised him with compassion. The servant woman, who had been ordered to dispose of the baby, felt guilty and followed the child to the doctor’s house, asking to stay and help care for the unfortunate infant. As the child grew, he eventually became a doctor himself, and the villagers called him “the Four-Legged Doctor,” for he traveled using crutches. Meanwhile, the wealthy father fell gravely ill. The Four-Legged Doctor came to treat him, and the rich man promised that if he were cured, he would give all his property to the doctor. After the treatment was successful, the servant woman revealed the truth—that the Four-Legged Doctor was actually his youngest son. The rich man and his wife wept as they embraced their child, and they all lived together happily ever after.
