នៅសម័យបុរាណ មានព្រះរាជាឈ្មោះ ធនញ្ជ័យ ដែលមានកូនប្រុសអ៊ាងតូចម្នាក់ឈ្មោះ ធនញ្ជ័យកុមារ។ ព្រះកុមារនេះមានចិត្តសប្បុរស ប្រាជ្ញា និងគោរពស្ដាប់ព្រះបិតាមាតា។ កាលមួយ ព្រះរាជាបិតាបានចង់សាកល្បងចិត្តកូន ដោយធ្វើជាមនុស្សក្រីក្រ ហើយដាក់ព្រះកុមារឱ្យរស់ដោយខ្លួនឯង។
ក្នុងអំឡុងពេលនោះ ព្រះកុមារបានបង្ហាញពីសេចក្ដីខិតខំ សុចរិត និងការរស់នៅដោយសុចរិតភាព ទោះបីមានការលំបាកក៏ដោយ។ ព្រះអង្គបានជួយមនុស្សជាច្រើនដោយចិត្តសប្បុរស និងមិនធ្លាប់ធ្វើអំពើអាក្រក់ទេ។
នៅចុងរឿង ព្រះរាជាបិតាបានបង្ហាញអត្តសញ្ញាណពិតវិញ ហើយសរសើរចិត្តល្អនៃព្រះកុមារ។ ព្រះអង្គបានរៀបចំអាហារពិសេស និងប្រគល់អាសនៈកិត្តិយសអោយកូនជាផ្នែករងសាសនានិងរាជការ។

In ancient times, there was a king named Thananjaya, who had a young son called Prince Thananjaya Kumara. The prince was kind-hearted, wise, and always respectful and obedient to his parents.
One day, the king wanted to test his son’s character. He disguised himself as a poor man and sent the prince away to live on his own.
During that time, the prince showed great diligence, honesty, and integrity. Even though life was difficult, he remained virtuous and generous, helping many people and never doing anything wrong.
In the end, the king revealed his true identity and praised his son’s good heart. He held a great feast in honor of the prince and appointed him to a respected position in both the royal court and religious affairs
