Preah Keo and Neang Pov went into the royal palace and offered the cock to her father for fighting with Siam king . The Khmer won the competition. The Siam king, dissatisfied with the result, ordered a royal elephant battle to take place. Eventually, there was even a contest involving sacred ox. The Siam used a tractor (modern machinery) to compete against the sacred ox.
Realizing they could not win, Neang Pov and Preah Kaew held onto the tail of the sacred ox and flew into the sky. Unfortunately, Neang Pov fell and died. As for the sacred ox and Preah Kaew, they continued fleeing from place to place until they were exhausted and lost their way. Eventually, they were captured by the Siamese soldiers and taken to Siam.
There, the sacred ox and Preah Kaew were worshipped and revered as sacred beings. This is why, even today, the Siamese people do not eat beef.
