After that, a man and a Naga also came to drink water. Unfortunately, none of them could climb back up from the well. Later, a hermit came and helped all three of them out. The hermit then wanted to test which of the three was the most grateful. The parrot brought the hermit the royal crystal goblet belonging to the king. The hermit then sent the goblet to the man he had rescued from the well. Later, when the king found out the crystal goblet was missing, he made an announcement seeking its return, promising a reward equal to its value. Greedy for the reward, the man presented the goblet to the king, claiming it as his own. The king then ordered soldiers to arrest the hermit. However, due to the hermit's honesty and righteousness, he escaped execution. The king later built a hermitage for the hermit to live with the parrot and the Naga, and he granted them many rewards.
