There was once a shepherd who led his sheep to graze on grass. At the same time, a forager (a person who collects firewood and vegetables) entered the forest with three dogs to gather firewood and wild vegetables.
While the shepherd was lying down and fell asleep, the dogs suddenly attacked and bit one of the sheep to death.
The wealthy man, who owned the sheep, was extremely upset and filed a complaint demanding compensation from the forager.
In the end, the judge ruled that the shepherd was at fault, because he had been negligent in his duties.
