Summary: This detailed report highlights real-world examples from Cambodia of how local communities, NGOs, and government officials are successfully managing small-scale and marine fisheries: Community Fisheries (CFis) and Marine Fisheries Management Areas (MFMAs) give legal authority to local fishers to co-manage resources. These initiatives feature patrolling, no-take zones, fishing regulations, and habitat restoration. In regions like Koh Rong and Kep, studies show improvements in reef health, stabilized coral cover, and gradual fish biomass recovery—despite regional threats.
