This story focuses on a character named Décho Yat, who was a governor or high-ranking official of the Kingdom of Yuon (Vietnam). Décho Yat was a man of virtue, intelligence, and respect, especially toward King Jayavarman, the ruler of the Khmer Empire. King Jayavarman sent an outstanding warrior named Chao Chour to lead a diplomatic mission to the Kingdom of Yuon in order to strengthen political ties and cooperation.

There, Décho Yat showed great respect and warm hospitality toward the guests from Angkor. His granting of freedom, the ceremonial welcome, and his respectful attitude made the diplomatic collaboration between the two states a success. Upon returning, Chao Chour reported to King Jayavarman about Décho Yat’s conduct and praised him as a man worthy of respect.
