"Chit Smaoh" is a romantic Khmer novel written by the renowned Cambodian author Mao Samnang, who also writes under the pen name "Tonsay" (Dragonfly). The story centers on the life of a young woman named Phka Keo, who faces hardship and personal sacrifice from an early age after losing both her parents in childhood.

After passing her high school exam (Bac II), Phka Keo makes the difficult decision to give up further education and return to Battambang province to care for her elderly grandfather. There, she encounters Visoth Sela, a wealthy landowner, who proposes marriage to her—not out of love at first, but with the aim of uncovering the truth behind the mysterious death of his sister and a missing diamond ring.

Throughout the story, Phka Keo uses her inner strength, honesty, kindness, and loyalty to gain the trust of Visoth Sela and eventually win his heart. The novel is filled with themes of love, sacrifice, perseverance, and the moral value of sincerity and integrity.

It is both a touching love story and a reflection on the virtues that sustain human relationships in the face of adversity.
